Kyle and I were shopping at wal-mart for the usual groceries (lychee juice, flamin hot cheetos, grass-fed beef, etc) when we stumbled into the foot care aisle. Kyle has been having problems with his heels after long days working at the pharmacy and I have been suffering from flat-foot syndrome. Flat-foot syndrome is my general word for the multitude of ailments that are associated with what my father calls “sailors feet”. I was born with ridiculously flat feet and being a dancer this has caused an array of conditions including, but not limited to, plantar fasciitis, posterior tibial tendonitis from over-pronation, achilles tendonitis, and other various types of pain.
It all revolves around inflammation and over-work of the foot. I know that as a dancer I am expected to work through the pain and pretend that it is not happening, but being back in ballet at such a low strength level just showed me that I need to do something about my stupid feet.
So, as Kyle and I were wandering through the foot care aisle of Wal-mart, i discovered a product called simply “Arch Bandage.” It’s basically just a thick piece of elastic with a seam that is placed around the arch of the foot. I bought it on a whim (only $4) but this little piece of elastic has SAVED MY FEET.
I’ve been wearing it in class for the past two weeks and it has worked so well! I no longer have the arch ripping or the posterior tibial pain that was becoming excruciating. I would recommend this product to anyone who has flat feet and the pain associated with it.
The only drawback is the lack of bloodflow to the anterior side of the foot. It causes quite a lot of pain during barre, but it’s better than coming home and not being able to walk on my feet for the next 4 days. Trust me, as silly as it looks, this product is worth it. And at only $4, I’d say buy two.
very quick movie reviews (from stuff i've seen since my laptop died)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End - Penelope Cruz steals the show, as usual.
I Love You Phillip Morris - Jim Carry can make anything awesome.
Yeah Right! - The only skateboarding video I will probably ever enjoy.
Dick Tracy - If you haven’t seen this in while, watch it again. It’s BEAUTIFUL!
Waste Land - Had some issues with this, but the art and idea is interesting enough.
The Lottery - Incredibly one-sided. I went to a charter school and a public school and found they were both filled with decent teachers and inept teachers. The issue is debatable.
King of California - This is exactly something my dad would do.
Inception Re-Watch - It’s a lot easier to understand this movie when you haven’t just drunk an entire bottle of wine. Much better the second time around. Anyone who complains about the open ending can S my D.
